How it started
NV De ZuikerCompagnie with the trade name
Caribbean Food Products was founded by Royal Ahold Zaandam and
Tofhold, Antilles in 1996. Because of the trade preferences that
the Antilles have with the European Union, Ahold made the
decision to build a complete new factory in Curaçao. From
there they could supply their own chocolate factory (Marvelo)
with raw materials against a competitive price.
European Market
The complete building and machines were build in a very high speed and Caribbean Food products started his production in the beginning of 1997. In the beginning CFP did produce exclusively for its own subsidiaries.Because of the high capacity and a huge European market and demand, CFP started to produce also for other big chocolate factories in Europe.
